Terracotta systems and double brackets

Cladmate Terracotta systems are engineered for ventilated rainscreen façades where natural clay panels need a stable, adjustable interface to the primary structure. The Helping Hand double-bracket family is sized in depth increments from 40 mm through to 300 mm so that cavity build-ups, insulation thicknesses, and rail positions can be matched without ad-hoc packing on site. Each bracket is intended to work with Cladmate rails and ancillary components as a coordinated subsystem, simplifying specification and reducing interface risk between trades.

The CMF-DB product codes identify both the stand-off depth and the fixing hole diameter suited to the substrate. The 6.5 mm hole variants are intended for steel and timber backgrounds where appropriate screw types and embedment can be achieved within manufacturer guidance. The 11 mm hole variants address masonry and concrete substrates, where larger-diameter fixings and anchors are typically required for design pull-out and shear. Selecting the correct column for your background is essential for compliance with the structural design; the sizing table on this page should be read together with project-specific calculations and the relevant anchor manufacturer’s data.

On terracotta projects, load paths, thermal performance, and fire strategy must align from early RIBA stages through to handover. Double brackets spread reaction into the backing wall over two fixing centres where the design requires it, supporting predictable behaviour under wind suction and dead load. Where A1 reaction-to-fire classification or enhanced durability is specified, coordinate the full bracket and rail package with our technical team so that material declarations, coatings, and compatibility with panel anchors remain consistent across the specification.

We support specifiers with NBS-friendly descriptions, CWCT-aligned detailing references where applicable, and assistance aligning bracket centres with panel layout and movement joints. For bespoke cavity depths, unusual substrates, or combined steel and masonry zones on the same elevation, contact us with grid loads and fixing zones so we can recommend the most appropriate bracket size and hole pattern before orders are placed.

Frequently asked questions

Cladmate facade systems on site

Helping Hand Brackets are used to securely support and align facade panels during installation, ensuring proper spacing and structural stability.

Pre-set stand-off depths and coordinated fixing centres reduce on-site adjustment, letting teams set rails and panels to a repeatable grid with fewer callbacks and less temporary propping.

They are specified with the correct hole pattern and anchors for steel, timber, masonry, and concrete substrates, always in line with structural design and manufacturer data for the chosen panel system.
